HOME
Abda Waana Kimel
This work represents to me my roots and the
connection to the Moroccan home and culture.
The work split to two main parts.
The first part is the connection to home is
throgh my dear grandmother Habiba, my
father’s mother, grandma and I had a special
connection after my grandfather passed away
we spent a lot of time together and slept
with her for a long time which built the deep
closeness between us. For me, she represented
the Moroccan culture; light, funny, fun, caring,
warm and unconditional love, after she passed
`I come from.
The second part is a father who immigrated
from Morocco at the age of eight, firstborn son
to Habiba and Izhak Almakias from Casablanca.
The character of my father, love and warm, the
food, approach to life connects me to my home
and roots that always tries to bring us more of
Jewish heritage and tradition.
One of the sentences that always told me “Abda
Wana Kimmel” that say start and I will continue,
start and God will continue, start and the world
will join you and the universe will come to your aid.
